No problem!  That's why we're here!  This booklet should get you going on the greatest adventure of your life - knowing God!    

 

God wrote His Big Book for YOU, and we're here to help you get started with it.  Here's some of what's in this book for you:

 

What's a "Christian"?

 

So, you are a new Christian?  Let’s spend just a few minutes talking about what that means.

 

 

Why is this book needed?

 

Who needs this book?  Why would YOU need it?  What will this book do for you?  Hey, if you don’t know anything at all about the Bible, this is the book for you!  It’s for people who are total noobs to the Bible! 

 

 

Why read the Bible?

 

The Bible is a BIG book, and it looks pretty complicated.  Why should you bother to read it?  Is a 2,000 year old book even relevant today?

 

 

What is the Bible, anyway?

 

Just what is this big book?  I’ll help you get The Big Picture so you don’t waste time wandering around in a sea of strange new stuff. 

 

 

How did God write it?

 

We’ll talk about HOW God got HIS words into our hands, using human authors.  We’ll talk about what that means to YOU, and what that means to your Bible.

 

 

Who Is It For?

 

Well, this should be easy.  It’s for YOU!  :D  But we’ll talk about WHY it’s for you, and who else it’s for. 

 

 

Can we believe it?

 

Oh, yeah.  This is The Big Question.  Can we believe it?  Can we trust it? 

 

We’ll cover all of that, and The Da Vinci Code, too.  (HINT:  It’s fiction, people, not history!) 

 

 

Where Am I?

 

It’s easy to get lost in the Bible.  It’s a Big Book!  There’s lots of stuff here!  We’ll go over how to navigate the Bible, how to find your way around. 

 

 

What about translations?

 

Wow!  I just read there are over 450 English translations of the Bible?  Why so many?  How do I pick one??  We’ll go over all of that.  And just for fun (not really) I’ll upset a few people along the way!  :D

 

 

Where should I start reading?

 

Where to dive in to this big book?  Actually, the Bible is really a library, because it’s a collection of books.  I’ll make some suggestions.  The biggest thing is, just get started!

 

 

 

How do I understand all this stuff?

 

The Bible is not like any other book that has ever been written.  No, it’s not even like other religious books.  I’ll talk about how to understand it. 

 

 

Reading IN or Reading OUT?

 

This is more about how to understand the Bible.  Or maybe I could say, how to read the Bible with understanding.  The right way to read the Bible (or anything else!) is to read it to see what IS there. 

 

 

What does God want from me?

 

This part isn’t about how to read the Bible.  As a brand-new believer in Jesus, you might be asking the question.  “What does God want from me?  What do I do now?”  Maybe even, “What are the rules?”  There’s good news here.
